Eggy Chair
Not a chair until cracked.
A 1 month project exhibited in NYC ICFF 2022.

Objective To present a new means of furniture interaction and interconnection. Redefining comfortability with a postmodern aesthetic can allow users to not only have a unique experience with furniture but can also spark self attentiveness.
Sketch A sketch that was originally set in a pool side environment and provoked the idea of that same relaxation but in any location.

Lo-Fi Models Clay models allowed for quick ideation of other possible forms, while also defining its final form.

Small Scale Construction Model Once the form was finalized, a 1:10 scaled model was made to determine the interior.

CAD Model A CAD model was created to finalize dimensions, forms, and interior constructions.

Full Scale Lo-Fi Model Stencils where made from the CAD Model in order to create a proof of scale and construction.

Interior Construction The same stencils where used to create the interior construction with oriented strand board.

Form Great Stuff, a spray insulation foam, was used to fill in the interior skeleton. This allowed for quick and easy hand forming, as well as a light weighted solution.

Memory foam, batting fiber, and batting fabric was applied before the final fabric. The 90% polyester and 10% 2-way stretch spandex allowed for a bungee effect. A thin piece of plywood with black fabric was added as the base.
